Rakuten - Tech Lead

November 2020 - Present (5+ years) | Paris

Tech lead for a team of ~10 engineers, driving the full rewrite of a legacy platform into a modern microservices architecture.

  • Migrated multiple Java 8 + Maven repositories (deployed as JARs) to a mono-repo of containerised microservices running on Kubernetes
  • New platform built from scratch: Java 21, Micronaut, gRPC, Gradle, Kafka, Pulsar, MariaDB
  • Infrastructure as code with Terraform and Kustomize; secrets management via Vault and Consul
  • CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins; container orchestration on Kubernetes

Thanksys - Lead Backend

Led backend technical direction for a team of 4 developers, with close collaboration with the Operations team.

  • Owned the technical stack evolution: dependency upgrades, tech watch, and proof-of-concepts
