[BUG🐛] pip install fails on Colab

Bug Description

First, thank you for a great package, and I hope to have a workaround for this soon, but I want to leave a trail of breadcrumbs for anyone else who runs into this.

When trying to install auralis on Colab (Google's free Jupyter notebook service) using a clean instance, the suggested pip command fails.

Minimal Reproducible Example

pip install auralis

Expected Behavior

Installation to complete successfully.

Actual Behavior

Installation fails with a pip version resolution error.

The conflict is caused by:
    outlines 0.0.46 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.45 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.44 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.43 depends on pyairports

To fix this you could try to:
1. loosen the range of package versions you've specified
2. remove package versions to allow pip to attempt to solve the dependency conflict

Possible Solutions

I tried downloading this repo, running pip install ., and hit the same error.

I then tried removing the version pinning, changing vllm==0.6.4.post1 in requirements.txt to just vllm. That produced the same error.

Removing vllm entirely from the requirements gave me a different error during the pip install.

From https://docs.vllm.ai/en/v0.6.5/getting_started/installation.html#install-released-versions I believe that the vllm version pinning is required to match a particular cuda version, and I suspect v12.5 on the instance isn't compatible? It's confusing though, I'm going down a dependency rabbit hole.

I decided to try the Docker image included in the repo instead, but that also errors out:

Presumably this is because I'm running it on an non-Nvidia MacBook Pro, but I was hoping to experiment with the CPU version at least. I'll keep digging in.

You’ve run into Problem No.8: Environment Drift & Dependency Trap—Colab’s default Python and package stack is notorious for hidden dependency mismatches, especially when pip resolves version conflicts in a live notebook.

Why this happens:

Colab preinstalls a lot of packages at system level, some are out-of-date or pinned in ways that clash with newer installs.

pip install will sometimes “succeed” but break runtime or silently downgrade dependencies.

I've run into the same issue:

The conflict is caused by:
    outlines 0.0.46 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.45 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.44 depends on pyairports
    outlines 0.0.43 depends on pyairports

Turns out pyairports is required by the outlines (in the version required by vllm that is in this repo's requirements.txt), but it's not available anymore (pyairports). You have to install it manually:

git clone https://github.com/NICTA/pyairports && cd pyairports && pip install .

That worked for me. After the "manual" installation of pyairports airports, everything seems to be going smoothly.
