I'd like to propose a feature that would add a lot of value for international users and developers: the ability to filter the global leaderboards by typing language.

Currently, the leaderboard is a fantastic way to see top typing speeds, but it heavily favors the default English word lists. Monkeytype supports a massive variety of languages—from Spanish and German to programming languages like Python and C++. However, users who actively practice and set high scores in these alternative languages have no way to compare their performance with others on a global scale.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be awesome to add a "Language" dropdown or filter toggle on the Leaderboard page.
By default, it would remain on English (or the user's current active language).
Users could open the dropdown to select other human languages (e.g., French, Korean) or code categories (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
The leaderboard would then re-query to show the top scores specifically for that language, alongside the existing Time/Words filters.
Describe alternatives you've considered
An alternative could be creating a separate, dedicated "Programming Leaderboard" and "International Leaderboard," but adding a universal language filter to the existing UI seems cleaner and more scalable.
Why this would be great for Monkeytype:
Inclusivity: It encourages non-English speakers to compete and engage more deeply with the platform.
Niche Communities: Programmers and developers could compete for the fastest typing speeds in their favorite syntax, which could drive a lot of fun, competitive traffic to the site.
Skill Tracking: Users trying to learn a new language (spoken or code) can track how they stack up against native speakers/experts.
