Why

The compare pages told buyers Maple has no uptime checks, no on-call and no SLOs, listed 6 of the 11 alert destinations, and described a self-hosted edition with alerting and a bring-your-own warehouse that does not exist. A buyer comparing tools ruled Maple out for gaps it has already closed, and the self-host copy promised things the self-host docs say are missing.

What changed

Copy only, in en, ja and ko (apps/landing/messages/*.json), plus three row verdicts in competitors.ts and the alerts panel in features.ts.

  • Uptime: HTTP, TCP and DNS checks every 30s or more, cron heartbeats, a failed HTTP check opens as a trace. Still "no scripted browser tests".
  • On-call: schedules with overrides, escalation chains, maintenance windows, no per-responder fee. Pages go by email and Slack or Discord message, and the copy says plainly there is no phone or SMS paging.
  • SLOs: error budgets and multiwindow burn-rate alerts, creatable over MCP.
  • Alert destinations: adds Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, incident.io and Linear.
  • Integrations: adds the AWS, GCP, Railway and Supabase connectors.
  • Cost controls: ingest rules (drop, sample, redact) next to the overage caps.
  • AI: names investigations and MCP write tools instead of "built-in diagnostics". Does not claim investigations run on every alert (that is behind a rollout flag).
  • Self-host: one container, one team, shared access token, no alerting, matching docs/self-hosting.md. Pricing no longer says every option has the same alerts.
  • Retention: 30 days for traces, logs and replays, 90 for metrics, 12 months for service charts, matching docs/reference/retention.md.
  • Verdicts: on-call (one page), SLOs and alert destinations move from "competitor" to "even". The other on-call row stays "competitor" because that product has phone and SMS paging.

Kept as "not available" on purpose: status pages, Releases and the security center are still behind org rollout flags that are off by default.

Verification

  • Every claim checked against code: uptime kinds and interval bounds (packages/primitives/src/index.ts), destination types (alert-destinations.ts), MCP create_slo/create_dashboard/create_alert_rule, the infra connectors, warehouse TTLs (datasources.ts), rollout flags (organization-feature-flags.ts).
  • On-call, escalation and maintenance windows are in the latest successful production deploy.
  • bun run test in apps/landing: 20 files, 127 tests pass. All three message files parse; no em dashes added.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Clarified availability-monitoring sources, hosted-check cadence, and cron-job monitoring through heartbeats. Hosted-check setup now points to the Uptime tab.
  • Updates
    • Refreshed English, Japanese, and Korean landing-page and comparison copy covering retention, self-hosting limits, pricing, product capabilities, and vendor comparisons.
    • Updated listed alert destinations to include Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, incident.io, and Linear.
    • Revised comparison scoring for SigNoz alert channels and Honeycomb SLOs.

The compare pages said Maple has no uptime checks, no on-call and no SLOs,
listed 6 of 11 alert destinations, and promised a self-hosted edition with
alerting and your own warehouse. All of that was out of date.

- Uptime checks, on-call schedules, escalation chains, maintenance windows
and burn-rate SLOs are described as shipped. Status pages stay "not yet"
(still behind a rollout flag), and so does phone or SMS paging.
- Alert destinations name Teams, Google Chat, incident.io and Linear.
- Integrations name the AWS, GCP, Railway and Supabase connectors.
- Cost-control rows mention ingest rules (drop, sample, redact).
- AI rows name investigations and MCP write tools, not "built-in diagnostics".
- Self-host is described as it is: one container, one team, no alerting.
- Retention: 30 days for traces, logs and replays, 90 for metrics, 12 months
for service charts, matching the retention docs.
- Rows where Maple now matches flip from "competitor" to "even".

Same changes in ja and ko.

Update the self-hosting FAQ to match the one-container setup.

The pricing FAQ still tells readers to operate a separate ClickHouse. The updated self-hosting copy says one container, and the self-hosting guide says the container has an embedded ClickHouse. Update faq_selfhost_a in English, Japanese, and Korean so readers do not follow the wrong setup instructions. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

CodeRabbit outside-diff note on faq_selfhost_a was valid: fixed in d2454e1, along with sov_pillar_4_body, cmp_ax_faq_1_a and cmp_hc_faq_1_a, which made the same claim. The earlier effect-lint failure was the runner being shut down mid-job, not a lint error.

Maple review

🟡 Confidence 6/10 · needs attention. Held at 6 because a correctness warning is open.
1 warning −1 · tests not needed · risk low

Rewrites the landing compare, pricing and alerting copy in en, ja and ko so it matches what ships today: uptime checks, on-call, SLOs, ten alert destinations, the one-container self-host and the real retention tiers. Three row verdicts change. Safe to merge.

  • Compare rows now credit Maple with uptime checks, on-call, SLOs and ten alert destinations
  • Self-host copy describes the one-container image with no alerting, matching the self-host docs
  • Retention copy states 30 days for traces and logs, 90 for metrics, 12 months for service charts
  • cmp_sn_channels_maple and cmp_hc_slo_maple rows move from competitor to even

@maple-review-bot F3 is fixed at 8078dd5: cmp_sn_faq_4_a now describes the one-container self-host in en, ja and ko, and no locale file at this head mentions a compose file, a root password or a bring-your-own warehouse for self-hosting. Its review thread is resolved.

Confirmed at 8078dd5, and F3 can be dismissed.

  • cmp_sn_faq_4_a now reads "Maple self-hosts as one container with its own storage, an ingest key and an access token, for one team and without alerting" — en.json:1205, with the same in ja.json:1119 and ko.json:1119.
  • That matches what ships: apps/cli/docker/Dockerfile:1-2 describes one container with OTLP ingest, the query API and the dashboard on one port, "with an ingest key and an access token required", bundles libchdb.so (:12) and mounts a single /data volume (:28). apps/landing/src/content/docs/self-hosting/deploy.md:20-37 shows the compose file is one maple service, not ClickHouse plus Postgres beside it.
  • I swept the three locale files at this head for compose, root password, ClickHouse, bring your own and your own warehouse/database/storage. The only Docker Compose hits are inside cmp_sn_faq_4_a in each locale, and there they describe SigNoz's self-host path, which is the point of the question. Every remaining ClickHouse mention is about the engine under Maple generally, the embedded store in the local binary (cmp_sn_local_maple and friends), or SigNoz.

Not a blocker, just noting it: src/docs/prometheus-metrics.astro:203 and src/docs/infrastructure/docker.md:52 still show multi-container compose files, but those are about running collectors next to your app, not about self-hosting Maple, so the copy stays consistent.
