Description

Xcode 27 replaced Simulator.app with DeviceHub.app, so open -a Simulator fails. Because run-local.sh runs with set -e, that aborted every local iOS run before Appium started.

Details

  • Added open_simulator_ui in appium/scripts/run-local/runtime.sh: tries Simulator, then DeviceHub, and never fails.
  • Both open -a Simulator calls in start_ios_simulator now use it.
  • Booting is unchanged: simctl boot + simctl bootstatus -b still gate readiness, so a real boot failure is still caught. Worst case is no visible window.
  • No behavior change on Xcode 26 and earlier.

Xcode 27 replaced Simulator.app with DeviceHub.app, so `open -a Simulator`
failed under set -e and aborted iOS runs. Opening the UI is now best-effort
with a DeviceHub fallback.
