fix: let factions end embargoes and trade agreements - #187
Conversation
The trade menu showed "Click to end agreement" on the current agreement, but the click set the same type again. An embargo could only be replaced by a mutual deal the other faction accepted, and nobody could cancel a trade agreement. Clicking the current trade agreement now ends it. An embargo is lifted on our side only; a mutual agreement is removed on both sides, so loading does not restore the partner's half, and the partner's leader is told. Locked agreements (the subject side of an unequal treaty) stay locked. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Embargoing a trade partner only overwrote our own side, so lifting the embargo left their half of the old agreement. Loading then refilled our side from it and the agreement came back. Ending a trade overlay now also removes the partner's overlay toward us whenever it is mutual (or the linked half of ours); their own one-sided overlays, like an embargo on us, still stay. Bug
Bug report from John (IC: Miras/Thalrix): "You can't remove embargos on other factions after setting them unless you sign a trade deal. There is no option for 'no trade agreement' in the menu."
The trade menu showed Click to end agreement on the current agreement, but the click handler called
setTradeRelationwith the same type again. Nothing removed a trade overlay. The only way out of an embargo was to replace it with a mutual deal that the other faction accepted, and a trade agreement could not be cancelled at all. Treaties already have "No Treaty".Fix
Clicking the current trade agreement now calls the new
RelationManager.endTradeRelation:migrateMisplacedTradeRelationswould otherwise restore the missing half on load.No config change.
Dev test
Bot e2e on TFMCDev01 with two real-character bots, each leading a throwaway faction, driving the actual menus (
~/sf-trade-test/test.js): set an embargo from the menu, lift it (partner's own embargo untouched, no request or message to them), end a mutual Trade Agreement alone (both sides removed, partner told, no request), and lift an embargo laid over a deal (partner's orphaned half removed). Test factions deleted afterwards.Tests
DiplomacyCoverageTest: embargo lifted on one side only; lifting an embargo laid over a deal, and ending a deal whose partner holds a different mutual type, leave nothing for the load migration to restore; mutual deal removed on both sides and not restored by the load migration; locked subject side refused; an unrelated partner overlay kept; null guards.RelationMenusCoverageTest: clicking the current trade agreement ends it instead of setting it again, without a capacity check.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
