- Around line 629-631: Update the generator’s finally block to abort controller
in addition to removing the external abort listener, ensuring early termination
cancels the in-flight stream while preserving completed and already-aborted
behavior.
- Around line 682-684: Update the pre-aborted completePrompt path to throw the
canonical createAbortError("OpenRouter") result instead of throwIfAborted,
matching the abort behavior used elsewhere in the provider and createMessage;
remove the now-unused throwIfAborted import if applicable.
In `@src/api/providers/utils/__tests__/abort-signal.spec.ts`:
- Around line 15-29: Extract the duplicated generic settlesWithin
promise-timeout helper into a shared typed test utility, preserving the existing
behavior while standardizing its error message as needed. In
src/api/providers/utils/__tests__/abort-signal.spec.ts lines 15-29 and
src/api/providers/__tests__/openrouter.spec.ts lines 117-131, remove each local
settlesWithin definition and import the shared helper from the new utility
module.
- Line 119: Update the abort listener registration assertion in the relevant
test to compare the registered listener against addSpy.mock.calls[0]?.[1] rather
than expect.any(Function), while preserving the { once: true } options
assertion.

Conflict in openrouter.ts completePrompt preamble: keep the unit's abort wiring (mergeAbortSignalAndTimeout + pre-abort throw + rejectOnAbort around fetchModel) over main's parameter rename (_options), which the unit consumes. openrouter.spec.ts 87/87 green; tsc/eslint/prettier clean.

- Around line 2211-2214: Replace the OpenAI prototype mutations in the rewritten
`completePrompt` tests with typed per-instance injection through
`handler["client"]`, so each test uses its own mock without leaving stale state
for later tests. In the rate-limit test, create the error with its `status`
property via `Object.assign` instead of `as any`.
- Around line 2552-2553: Update the “aborted mid-flight” test around
handler.completePrompt to wait until mockCreate has started before calling
controller.abort(), then assert mockCreate was called once. This ensures the
test exercises the in-flight SDK abort path rather than aborting during model
lookup.

normalize errors only when requestAbortSignal is aborted; otherwise, rethrow the

timeout. Update the abort-named discovery test to expect the original error.

completePrompt's model-discovery catch normalized any abort-shaped failure, including the model cache's own internal timeout, into the caller-cancellation AbortError. It now normalizes only when the merged request signal is actually aborted, so a discovery failure keeps its original identity. Tests: the completePrompt block injects the typed per-instance client via defineProperty instead of mutating OpenAI.prototype (no more leaked stale mocks or as-any suppressions), the 429s use Object.assign instead of an any cast, and the mid-flight abort test now waits for create() to start and asserts it ran once so it really exercises the in-flight catch path.
…ay-a-openrouter # Conflicts: # src/api/providers/__tests__/openrouter.spec.ts
…rt wiring The 11 directives added earlier in this branch are forbidden by the repository policy (AGENTS.md / changed-code mutation gate). The equivalent-mutant rationale they carried is recorded in the PR body instead of in source. They also tripped the 300-char max-len rule.

Repository policy forbids them in source (the changed-code mutation gate rejects PRs that introduce them) and their long lines also tripped themax-lenlint rule. The equivalent-mutant reasoning they carried is recorded here instead of in the code:// Stryker disable next-line ConditionalExpression: only assistant messages carry tool_calls after conversion, so the branch body is a no-op for every other role— guarded line:if (msg.role === "assistant") {// Stryker disable next-line ConditionalExpression,EqualityOperator: conversion only sets tool_calls for assistant messages with at least one tool_use, so the empty-array case the variants diverge on is unreachable— guarded line:if (toolCalls && toolCalls.length > 0) {// Stryker disable next-line LogicalOperator,OptionalChaining,BooleanLiteral: sanitizeGeminiMessages keeps only tool calls with matching details, so reasoning_details is a defined array here and the some()/?? fallback variants are unobservable— guarded line:const hasEncrypted = existingDetails?.some((d) => d.type === "reasoning.encrypted") ?? false// Stryker disable next-line ArrayDeclaration: sanitizeGeminiMessages guarantees reasoning_details is a defined array inside this branch, so the ?? [] fallback never runs— guarded line:reasoning_details: [...(existingDetails ?? []), fakeEncrypted],// Stryker disable next-line ConditionalExpression,LogicalOperator,EqualityOperator: every model-info source (model list or openRouterDefaultModelInfo) supplies a positive maxTokens, so the leading maxTokens guard makes the inner variants unreachable; whole-condition variants remain test-covered— guarded line:...(maxTokens && maxTokens > 0 && { max_tokens: maxTokens }),// Stryker disable next-line OptionalChaining: the parseResult.data.error guard above guarantees .error is defined, so this optional chain is a no-op— guarded line:const rawString = openRouterError.error?.metadata?.raw// Stryker disable next-line OptionalChaining: the parseResult.data.error guard above guarantees .error is defined, so this optional chain is a no-op— guarded line:const rawErrorMessage = parsedError || openRouterError.error?.message || "Unknown error"// Stryker disable next-line OptionalChaining: the parseResult.data.error guard above guarantees .error is defined, so this optional chain is a no-op— guarded line:openRouterError.error?.code,// Stryker disable next-line OptionalChaining: the parseResult.data.error guard above guarantees .error is defined, so this optional chain is a no-op— guarded line:status: openRouterError.error?.code,// Stryker disable next-line StringLiteral: the catch below rethrows its own canonical createAbortError, masking the message of this throw— guarded line:throw createAbortError("OpenRouter")// Stryker disable next-line ConditionalExpression,EqualityOperator: an empty accumulator consolidates to [] and getReasoningDetails() maps empty to undefined, so the block is unobservable— guarded line:if (reasoningDetailsAccumulator.size > 0) {mutation-diffis an advisory check. If it reports surviving/uncovered mutants on those formerly-suppressed lines, the equivalence arguments above are the disposition; no local suppression is being reintroduced.tsc --noEmitclean,vitest run api/providers/__tests__/openrouter.spec.ts→ 93/93.
