feat: embed follow badge for profiles matching activity graph
Summary
Users can now generate and embed a compact SVG follow badge on their GitHub profile README or repository headers (e.g. [](https://dev-null.sh/@handle)).
When readers click the badge, it links directly to the user's profile on /dev/null so they can follow them. The badge is designed to be visually consistent with the existing Activity Graph embed, supporting Light, Dark, and Auto theme modes.

Auto: Dynamically adapts to viewer's prefers-color-scheme
Design alignment: The badge card background, border stroke, typography, and lane accent dot strictly mirror the styling of the commit activity graph card.
Structured as a single card (<rect class="card" ... rx="4"/>) matching the Activity Graph's card visual architecture.
Contains the /dev/null brand icon (.ink), text brand (.ink), user lane indicator dot (<circle class="lane" .../>), and follow handle message (.ink.mono).
Uses CSS classes (.card, .ink, .muted, .lane, .l0) with font stacks Geist and Geist Mono.
Implements the exact same LIGHT and DARK color palettes as CreateUserActivityGraph.
Supports light, dark, and auto theme modes. Auto mode embeds @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) so the badge automatically flips theme inside GitHub READMEs based on the viewer's OS/browser mode.
Streamlined UserBadgeController to a single public show() action returning SVG responses, matching UserActivityGraphController and adhering to project architecture rules (ArchTest).
Added route GET /@{user:handle}/badge.svg with throttle:activity-graph and cache.headers:public;max_age=3600;etag.
Added shareable follow badges in SVG format, with light, dark, and automatic theme options.
Added badge previews and embed snippets alongside activity graph embeds. Switch between graph and badge, choose a theme, and copy the snippet for the selected option.
Added badge links to user profiles, with badge colors that can reflect the selected activity lane.
Badges support public caching and conditional requests, helping repeat visits load efficiently.

Walkthrough
The change adds a themed SVG follow badge endpoint for user profiles. The profile editor now provides graph and badge embed tabs, previews, and Markdown snippets.
The action builds a follow message, calculates its width, selects light, dark, or automatic styles, and renders the SVG template. Unit tests check the generated SVG and text helpers.
Serve badge from profile route app/Http/Requests/ShowUserBadgeRequest.php, app/Http/Controllers/UserBadgeController.php, routes/web.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/UserBadgeControllerTest.php
The route serves the generated SVG with public caching. The request resolves the theme query value. Feature tests cover caching, themes, lane colors, throttling, and missing profiles.
The profile page supplies a badge URL. The embed component adds graph and badge tabs, previews, theme-aware snippets, and a fallback badge URL. Tests cover the profile URL and rendered embed options.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 002f0
This adds a public SVG follow badge and profile-editor embed options. The supplied evidence shows no concrete merge-blocking risk, and the reported tests, type checks and build passed.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 002f0
The badge adds a narrowly scoped public rendering capability and follows the existing activity-graph delivery pattern. No cross-reader data exposure is established, but production cache handling of session cookies remains unverified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The unresolved exposure is cross-reader session-cookie propagation through a shared HTTP cache, not privileged behavior in the SVG renderer. If deployment caching replays Set-Cookie headers, readers receiving the same cached object could receive another reader's session identifier. Whether that prerequisite occurs, and the resulting scope, are not established.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
observed — The supplied security candidate remains deferred rather than verified. Source inspection resolves the missing web-route registration fact, but deployed shared-cache handling of Set-Cookie remains unknown. Badge tests assert public cache headers and ETag behavior without checking badge cookies or modeling replay between different readers. The dropped-evidence coverage unit also remains unresolved.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The badge controller performs rendering rather than authentication or explicit session mutation. Theme selection is enum-constrained and handle output is escaped. Existing authentication code regenerates the session after login and invalidates it on logout; these controls are counterevidence against treating possible anonymous cookie reuse as proven account takeover, but they do not establish safe shared-cache behavior.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Consider a session-independent delivery pipeline for public badge and graph assets while retaining route binding, input controls, and throttling. Validate the deployed cache policy and cross-reader behavior for both ordinary and conditional responses, explicitly ensuring that session cookies cannot be replayed between readers. This addresses an inherited architectural coupling, not a verified PR-introduced vulnerability.

Explanation
The title "feat: embed follow badge for profiles matching activity graph" matches the main change. The PR adds an SVG follow badge for user profiles (CreateUserBadge action, UserBadgeController, the /@{user:handle}/badge.svg route, and a Follow badge option in the activity graph embed component). The title is specific and states the primary change, and it uses the conventional commit prefix. It is somewhat long at 61 characters, but it stays readable and accurate.
