The ultimate tool to optimize, tweak, and customize your Windows experience.
MagicX Toolbox is a modern, safe, and easy-to-use application designed to help you take control of your Windows PC. Whether you want to boost gaming performance, enhance privacy, remove bloatware, or just customize your system, MagicX Toolbox makes it simple.
Overview: your PC, your tweaks and every category at a glance
Search: find any tweak or app from the title bar with Ctrl+K
Categories: risk, warnings and attention on the row, with staged changes applied from one bar
Details: what each option changes, why, and the snapshot history, in one dialog
- 🎮 Gaming Optimization: Reduce system latency and optimize background processes for a smoother gaming experience.
- 🛡️ Privacy & Security: Disable invasive telemetry and data collection to keep your personal information private.
- 🚀 Performance Boost: Remove bloatware and unnecessary services to free up system resources.
- 💾 Safe by Design:
- Automatic Backups: Snapshots are taken before every change, so you can always undo tweaks.
- Risk Levels: Every tweak is clearly labeled (Safe, Moderate, Advanced) so you know exactly what you're doing.
- ℹ️ System Information: Get a detailed overview of your hardware and software specifications.
- 🧹 Bloatware Removal: Clean up pre-installed junk apps that slow down your computer.
- Portable: No installation required. Download one .exe file and run it.
MagicX Toolbox ships as a single portable file, magicx-toolbox.exe. There is no installer.
- Download: Go to the Releases Page and download
magicx-toolbox.exe. - Pick a folder: Put it in a folder you can write to, such as one under your user folder or on a USB drive, and run it from there. Avoid
Program Files: the app keeps its snapshots next to the exe and cannot save them there.
Before every change the app saves a snapshot in a snapshots folder next to magicx-toolbox.exe. That folder is your undo history. Keep it with the exe: if you move the app, move the folder with it, and do not delete it while any tweak is applied. Logs and settings are kept separately under %LOCALAPPDATA%\me.ehsankhan.magicx-toolbox.
Open Updates in the app to check for a new version. Install update downloads the new magicx-toolbox.exe, checks it against the SHA-256 checksum GitHub publishes for the release, replaces the running exe in the same folder and restarts the app. Your snapshots folder stays where it is, so your undo history carries over. The replaced version is kept as magicx-toolbox.exe.old until the next start, then deleted.
If the app cannot write to its own folder (for example a copy in Program Files or on read-only media), it says so and links to the releases page: download the new magicx-toolbox.exe and replace the old one yourself, keeping the snapshots folder beside it.
- Browse Categories: Pick a category such as Privacy, Performance or Security in the navigation pane, or search from the title bar (Ctrl+K).
- Review Tweaks: Read the description and check the risk level for each tweak.
- Apply: Pick an option on the tweak's switch or dropdown, then press Apply in the pending changes bar. The app saves a snapshot of the current state first.
- Revert: If you change your mind, press Restore on the tweak, or restore it from the Snapshots view.
- Press Export diagnostics, either in the Logs panel (the Logs button in the title bar) or in Settings > Diagnostics, and save the file.
- Open the file and check it before sharing. Personal details such as your user folder, account name, computer name and Windows account ID are replaced with placeholders, but read it anyway.
- Open an issue on GitHub, describe what happened, and attach the file.
Logs stay on your PC and nothing is uploaded. To stop saving them to disk, turn off Save logs on this PC in Settings > Diagnostics. If you are asked for more detail, turn on Detailed logging there, repeat what went wrong, and export again.

The test build adds a Manual Tests view for checking behaviour on a real machine: build it with pnpm run build:test (or run pnpm run dev:test), copy the binary to the target PC, run it as administrator, and use the Manual Tests entry in the navigation pane. A normal build contains none of that code and never shows the view. See docs/MANUAL_TESTS.md.
Preview mode. To work on the interface without the Tauri backend, run pnpm exec vite dev and open http://localhost:1420/?preview (add &user to run as a standard user). Tauri commands are mocked with the fixtures in src/lib/preview/, so nothing touches Windows. Only dev builds include it (import.meta.env.DEV in src/main.ts).

For understanding the overall architecture and data flow:
Edit src/app.css to customize colors and design tokens.
Update src/lib/config/app.ts for app metadata and settings.
Modify src-tauri/tauri.conf.json and src-tauri/Cargo.toml for window behavior and permissions. The window's size, position and maximized state are remembered between launches (src-tauri/src/window_state.rs).
