Throwaway draft to measure two changes on top of all 12 open CI PRs, the same base as #5802. I'll close it after three runs.

  1. The MSBuild job builds the MAUI sample again. ci: build the app samples in their own job #5783 took the app samples out of the platform solution filters, so msbuild.exe stopped building any Android or Windows app. The MSBuild job ends about 19 minutes before the slowest leg, so it has room for it.
  2. The win-arm64 integration tests run in their own job. On ci: measure all the open CI changes together (do not merge) #5802 the win-arm64 leg was the slowest check, at 30.1 to 31.6 minutes. Its 4 cores can't run the unit tests and the integration tests at the same time: Pester took 876.6 s next to the unit tests, against 684 s with them in the foreground, and the same 69 passed and 35 skipped. The macOS MAUI job from ci: run the macOS MAUI integration tests in their own job #5797 becomes a matrix with a win-arm64 entry, which builds and packs only the 5 packages the tests use, then runs every integration test file.

What I'm checking:

  • The win-arm64 leg ends at about 19 minutes and the new win-arm64 job at 25 or less.
  • The new job's Pester run still shows 69 passed and 35 skipped.
  • The MSBuild job builds the MAUI sample and still ends well before the slowest check.

Taking the app samples out of the platform solution filters meant msbuild.exe no longer built the MAUI sample, or any other Android or Windows app. The Samples job still builds it with the .NET CLI. The MSBuild job finishes well before the slowest build leg, so it builds the sample again, after the solution filter.

The win-arm64 runner has 4 cores. With the unit tests in the background next to the integration tests, Pester took 876.6 s on the combined draft, against 684 s with the unit tests in the foreground, and aot.Tests went from 31 s to 2.6 minutes. That made the leg the slowest check, at 30 to 32 minutes.

The macOS MAUI job becomes a matrix with a win-arm64 entry. It builds and packs only the packages the integration tests use, then runs all of them, so the leg keeps the build, the unit tests and the coverage upload.
