Move local search configuration into a Settings tab - #1933
Local search was configured from a 300px flyout off a footer word in the rail. Nothing in it said it could be changed, and the default Ollama option ran past its right edge
Settings gets a Search tab, shown only when the app runs a local server. It hosts the same LocalSearchViewModel (current mode, the keyword/meaning choice, the model choice, Apply, embedding progress, failure text) at the window's full width
The rail word stays as status and opens Settings on that tab. An open Settings window switches to it
The keyword option's copy says the choice can be changed later in Settings, under Search
Option labels wrap
Where to look
Settings owns no part of the search model: the app holds it for its whole lifetime, so closing Settings never stops a running setup
Settings tabs drop from 14px to 10px horizontal padding. Without that, six tabs (local edition with profiles) wrap Privacy onto a second row of the fixed 540px window
Added a Search tab in Settings for viewing and changing local search options, applying changes, and checking setup progress or errors.
The local search button opens the Search tab directly, including when Settings is already open. When Settings isn’t available, search controls remain accessible inline.
Improvements
Adjusted Settings tab spacing so six tabs fit on one row.
Search option labels now wrap to stay within their available space.
Updated guidance for changing keyword search to point to Settings.
The settings tabs lose four pixels of padding a side so six of them keep one row in the fixed-width window

The local search configuration moves from the session rail flyout into a Search tab in Settings. The rail can open Settings with Search selected. The tab displays search choices and setup feedback, and option labels wrap.

LocalSearchViewModel adds a command that opens Settings when an opener is available. The app selects the Search tab when opening or activating Settings and supplies its local search view model. Tests cover the command and the switch between inline controls and the Settings link.
Settings displays the current search choice, choice and apply controls, setup status, embedding progress, summary, and failure text. The rail uses a Settings link when available and otherwise shows the controls in a flyout. Option labels wrap, and the settings tab padding is reduced. Smoke tests check tab visibility, selection, content, and label bounds.

Explanation
The PR satisfies the coding requirements in [#1814]. Settings provides a Search tab for local-server profiles. The tab uses the app-owned LocalSearchViewModel and exposes the current mode, keyword or meaning choice, Ollama model choices, Apply, progress, and failure feedback. The rail no longer provides the configuration flyout when Settings is available; it opens Search in Settings. The implementation preserves inline behavior when Settings is unavailable. Option labels and explanatory text wrap, and focused tests cover navigation and width constraints. Onboarding and prerequisite work remains separate under [#1554].

High-Level Assessment
Keep the app-owned search view model and move only its controls: this preserves in-progress setup when Settings closes and avoids duplicating search state. Enlarging the rail flyout would retain the less discoverable configuration entry point.

1. Local override users lose search controls✓ Resolved
Description
openSettingsOn requires a nonempty Resolution.ProfileName before assigning
_openSearchSettings, but URL overrides resolve without a profile name. When --server-url or
KCAP_URL targets the local installation, the rail still shows the search button, yet its command
does nothing and the removed flyout no longer provides the controls.
ⓘ Recommendations generated based on similar findings in past PRs
Evidence
The resolver leaves ProfileName null for both URL override forms. Local-stack creation depends on
the resolved URL instead, so the search button is present, while the new settings callback remains
null and its command becomes a no-op.
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution
## Issue description
Local URL overrides create a local search model but have no resolved profile name, so the new rail button cannot open its settings.

## Recommended Fix
Provide a Search-tab opening path whenever the local search model exists, independently of whether a matching profile is available. Keep profile-editing controls dependent on a valid profile store; do not assume the active profile matches an overridden server URL.

A server reached by URL has no profile to build Settings from, so the rail opens the same view in place
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Cover the existing-window branch in the smoke test.
The new test calls ShowSearch() directly on a newly created SettingsWindow. It does not call App.OpenSettings after a Settings window already exists. Add a test for that path and assert that the existing window selects SearchTab. Otherwise, a regression in the _settingsWindow is { } open branch can pass the smoke suite.
