local-mirror

A hands-on lab for the Obsernetics blog series on running a local package mirror so machines can keep getting security patches and packages during internet outages.

Scope: this is only for keeping systems patched and packages available (especially during connectivity outages). It is not a tool to bypass filtering or reach blocked content.

Series

  1. Concepts, architecture, and the mirror host (nginx)
  2. OS package mirror (apt and dnf)
  3. Local container registry
  4. Language packages (PyPI and npm)
  5. Helm charts and system images
  6. Sync automation and unattended updates
