Summary

Mandy Chessell reported that Dr.Egeria did not support BusinessCapability, a Collection subtype from the 0715 Digital Business model, or the BusinessCapabilityDependency relationship. The DigitalBusiness SDK client already wrapped the API; Dr.Egeria had no commands for it.

New commands (Collections family):

  • Create / Update Business Capability. A new collection subtype that sends businessCapabilityType (the BusinessCapabilityType enum: UNCLASSIFIED, BUSINESS_SERVICE, BUSINESS_AREA, BUSINESS_DOMAIN, OTHER) and businessImplementationType. It routes to DigitalBusiness create/update.
  • Link / Detach Business Capability Dependency: Dependent Capability → Supporting Capability, with an optional Label and Description.
  • Link / Detach Digital Support: a business capability → any supporting element, such as a digital service or product. It's in the same model and API.

Both relationship types are UNI_LINK on the live platform, so attach is an upsert and re-running a document can't duplicate links.

The specs were added through the Spec Editor API. refresh_specs regenerated the format sets (only Business-Capability-DrE-Basic/Advanced were added) and the templates.

Test plan

  • Micro-tests: 1,484 pass. New: tests/micro-tests/test_business_capability_commands.py (5).
  • dr_egeria --validate routes all four new commands to the right processors.
  • Live on quickstart 9443 (Egeria 81beb8e5), one peer-cleared run with throwaway pyeg-test::bc:: elements:
    • Both capabilities created as BusinessCapability, with their type and implementation type stored.
    • The Update changed the type and kept the implementation type (merge update).
    • Both relationships appeared with their labels, from both ends (dependsOnBusinessCapabilities/supportsBusinessCapabilities, usesDigitalServices/consumingBusinessCapabilities), and were gone after detach.
    • Both elements deleted and read back as gone.

- Create/Update Business Capability: new collection subtype, sending

Live on quickstart 9443 (Egeria 81beb8e5): properties stored, update
changed the type and kept the implementation type, both relationships
appeared with their labels and were gone after detach; throwaway
elements deleted and read back as gone.
