Seen in Safari after the 2.4.1 deploy: JupyterLab's own UI failed with dozens of Plugin '...' failed to activate / Invalid response: 404 console errors (before any kernel starts), and it worked after clearing the site's data. GitHub Pages serves the site with max-age=600 and we can't change headers, so a browser holding files from an earlier deploy is a plausible cause.

  • Adds a Troubleshooting JupyterLite subsection to docs/source/jupyter-notebooks.rst: private/incognito window, clear site data (Safari / Chrome and Edge / Firefox), hard reload, or another browser; with a warning that clearing site data also removes notebooks saved in the browser.
  • Links it from the README in small text under the badge row (#troubleshooting-jupyterlite), since nobody will find it in the docs otherwise.

Root cause is unconfirmed (Network-tab 404 URLs were not captured before clearing), so the wording is deliberately cause-agnostic. The README link resolves once the docs publish after merge.

A browser holding files from an earlier deploy of the Jupyter lite site
shows many 'Plugin failed to activate / Invalid response: 404' errors
and a broken UI. Document the fixes: private window, clearing site
data (Safari, Chrome/Edge, Firefox), hard reload, or another browser.

… the README

An admonition buried in the docs would not be found. Make it a
'Troubleshooting JupyterLite' subsection (so it has a stable anchor) and
link it in small text under the Try it Now badges in the README.
