⚠️ Beta — early development. GlassX is an experimental, unofficial open-source iOS app. It works on the author's hardware as a first version, but expect bugs, rough edges and breaking changes. It is not affiliated with Meta, X Corp. or xAI. Use at your own risk.
GlassX connects Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses to X using Meta's Wearables Device Access Toolkit (DAT). The app UI and voice commands are currently in Italian.
- Live on X (RTMP/RTMPS) — streams the glasses camera + audio to X Live Studio. Modes: video+audio, video only, audio only. Quality presets: Auto / High (720×1280 @ 30 fps) / Medium / Low. Portrait orientation, automatic reconnection, battery/thermal-aware quality.
- Start/stop live hands-free — voice commands (e.g. «vai in diretta» / «termina diretta») and a configurable tap on the glasses.
- Capture — photos and short video clips (MP4) from the glasses, shared to X via the iOS share sheet / X intents (free, no API credits).
- Voice — "Hey Meta, " app launch (phrase configurable in Settings), voice command router, spoken confirmations.
- Optional, off by default — X API (post/read mentions) and xAI API (Grok voice, scene description, experimental live translation preview). Paid calls require explicit confirmation.
- Mac with Xcode 27 (Swift 6.4, iOS 27 SDK); XcodeGen to regenerate the project.
- iPhone on iOS 27 (deployment target iOS 17.2, the DAT minimum).
- Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 paired with the Meta AI app, with Developer Mode enabled.
- A free Apple ID (Personal Team) is enough.
- X Premium to use X Live Studio (RTMP source).
Swift packages (fetched by Xcode): meta-wearables-dat-ios 1.0.0 and HaishinKit 2.2.5.

cp Config/GlassX.xcconfig.example Config/GlassX.xcconfig
DEVELOPMENT_TEAM(your Team ID) and a uniquePRODUCT_BUNDLE_IDENTIFIER(no hyphens). LeaveMETA_APP_ID/CLIENT_TOKENempty when using Meta Developer Mode.Config/GlassX.xcconfigis git-ignored — never commit it. - Generate & open
brew install xcodegen xcodegen generate open GlassX.xcodeproj
- Sign & run — Xcode › Signing & Capabilities › your Personal Team. Enable Developer Mode on the iPhone, run (⌘R), then trust the developer profile in Settings › General › VPN & Device Management.
- Meta Wearables DAT — in the Wearables Developer Center register an iOS app with the same bundle ID (needed for App ID mode and for the "Hey Meta" spoken app name). In GlassX tap "Register with Meta AI" and grant Bluetooth, Local Network, Microphone, Speech Recognition and Photos.
- X Live Studio — open x.com/i/live-studio, create a broadcast
with an RTMP source and copy the Server URL (
rtmps://…recommended) and Stream key into GlassX › Settings › Live. Start the stream in GlassX, wait for the source to show as connected, then press Go Live in Live Studio.
Stream keys and API keys are entered in the app and stored in the iOS Keychain — never in files.
- "Hey Meta" launch relies on experimental Meta features; it can be flaky and the custom phrase must match the spoken name registered in the Wearables Developer Center.
- Go Live must be pressed in X Live Studio; X offers no official way to trigger it from another app.
- Live stream is capped at 720×1280 @ 30 fps — that is the maximum DAT exposes to third-party apps. Higher resolutions (up to 3K) apply to on-glasses photos/video, not to the stream.
- Streaming can stutter on weaker networks; translated subtitles are shown only in the in-app preview.
- Free Apple signing expires after 7 days — re-run from Xcode weekly. No TestFlight/App Store distribution (the Meta DAT is not App Store-ready yet).
- Long-session battery/thermal behaviour still needs more testing.
This repository contains no personal data, Team IDs, Meta tokens, stream keys or API keys.
Only Config/GlassX.xcconfig.example with placeholders is included. If you fork the project,
keep your own Config/GlassX.xcconfig out of version control.
