Summary

Runs the OpenCode example on one 80 GB GPU with Qwen/Qwen3.8-27B-FP8:h100-256k-batch, and records it on one H100 through both the single server and the cluster gateway.

  • recipes/gpu/opencode.json: a single sie-server on http://localhost:8080/v1, published on loopback only in the README's docker run line, with the profile's exact window (262,144) and output cap (32,768).
  • recipes/cluster/opencode.json: adds the same model entry and makes it the recipe's default model, since it is the one entry that was run.
  • Both Qwen3.8 entries send presence_penalty: 0. On BFCL it scored higher than the profile's default of 1.5 on both routes, and every row that passed at 1.5 also passed at 0.
  • session_load.py: a session load generator on the openai package, like conformance.py. It runs N agent-shaped sessions at once (a shared system prompt, growing transcripts sent back whole) and reports decode rate, returning-turn time to first token and cached prompt tokens per session count, judged against a bar set before the runs.
  • conformance.py: a long_tool_call case. It asks for one write_file call of 1,320 numbered lines (67,363 bytes of arguments, about 20,000 tokens) with max_tokens: 32000, as OpenCode sends. A broken stream or unparseable arguments fail; a model that declines, writes less or runs out of tokens, and an endpoint that refuses max_tokens: 32000, are recorded.
  • run_gate.sh: the SIE key check applies only to a recipe that reads {env:SIE_...}, so ./run_gate.sh gpu needs no key.
  • README: run instructions for one GPU, the new case and generator, and the recorded results.

Recorded on one H100 (2026-10-15)

Single server Cluster gateway
Conformance 11 pass, 0 fail, 1 recorded 11 pass, 0 fail, 1 recorded (at 00d7d732; the long call failed at 30 s before it)
Seeded gate 5/5 at pp 1.5, 5/5 + 3/3 at pp 0 5/5 at pp 1.5, 3/3 at pp 0
BFCL simple / multiple, pp 1.5 0.8975 / 0.910 0.925 / 0.935
BFCL simple / multiple, pp 0 0.925 / 0.920 0.945 / 0.945
Sessions meeting the bar (≥30 tok/s and ≤3 s returning TTFT at p90) 6 at ~61K, 2 at ~128K 6 at ~61K, 2 at ~128K

Overlap

#735 edits the same two lines of run_gate.sh (the recipe list in the error message and the key check). Whichever lands second keeps the grep -q '{env:SIE_' check, which also covers its recipe.

Tests

uv run pytest in the example: new stub tests for the long call (whole, short, declined, truncated, cut by an error event, ended by the output cap, max_tokens refused), for session_load.py (transcript replay, sizing, summary, failed turn, bar at p90) and for the gate's key check per recipe; the fake-engine test asserts the long call is recorded as not run against sie-fake:chat's 4,096-token cap.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a single-GPU OpenCode setup using Qwen3.8-27B-FP8, alongside laptop, cluster, and cloud setups.
    • Added long tool-call conformance checks and a session-load testing option that reports latency, token usage, and errors.
    • Added GPU recipe support and checks for long tool calls in the OpenCode gate.
  • Documentation

    • Updated setup instructions and recorded GPU and cluster results, including conformance and session-load measurements.
    • Clarified performance observations and limitations, including cases not run because of model output limits.

📝 Walkthrough

The OpenCode example adds GPU and cluster configurations, a long tool-call conformance case, and a concurrent session-load script. Tests and documentation cover the configurations, measurement workflows, and recorded results.

Changes: OpenCode GPU and workload checks

Layer / File(s) Summary
GPU and cluster recipes
examples/README.md, examples/coding-agent-opencode/README.md, examples/coding-agent-opencode/recipes/*/opencode.json, examples/coding-agent-opencode/run_gate.sh, examples/coding-agent-opencode/tests/test_run_gate.py
Adds a GPU recipe and updates the cluster recipe to use Qwen3.8-27B-FP8. The gate checks SIE credentials only when the selected recipe configuration references SIE environment variables. The README documents setup and recorded results.
Long tool-call conformance
examples/coding-agent-opencode/conformance.py, examples/coding-agent-opencode/tests/test_conformance.py, examples/coding-agent-opencode/tests/test_fake_engine.py, examples/coding-agent-opencode/README.md
Adds a streamed write_file call with a 65,536-byte minimum, records stream timing, and classifies incomplete calls, token-limit refusals, and invalid responses. Tests cover these outcomes and the fake engine’s output cap.
Concurrent session-load measurements
examples/coding-agent-opencode/session_load.py, examples/coding-agent-opencode/tests/test_session_load.py, examples/coding-agent-opencode/README.md
Adds concurrent sessions that resend transcripts and report token, latency, cache, and error measurements. Tests cover prompt sizing, transcript replay, error handling, and pass-bar evaluation.

Review comments at @examples/coding-agent-opencode/conformance.py:
- Line 833: Update the long-call validation around LONG_CALL_MIN_BYTES so it
does not report pass based on argument size and finish_reason alone. Require
exactly one write_file call targeting notes/pangrams.txt with all 1,320 numbered
lines, and verify the recorded lines_as_asked; add a test using large, valid but
incorrect arguments.

Review comments at @examples/coding-agent-opencode/session_load.py:
- Line 124: In stream_turn, validate the recorded finish_reason before setting
record.seconds: treat filtered or missing completion reasons as errors, and
reject stop responses that fall materially short of the --output-tokens target.
Ensure run_session does not append rejected partial answers and summarise does
not count those turns as successful.
- Around line 127-128: Update the decode_tps calculation using first and last so
its token count matches the timed interval: count visible content tokens emitted
after the first timed chunk, excluding reasoning tokens and tokens in that
initial chunk, or use a metric whose token count and timing cover the same
output.
