Remove TinyMemes (final-reply slang and meme remixing) from OpenHuman entirely: the vendor/tinymemes submodule, the tinymemes Cargo feature on every crate, the crates/openhuman-core/src/tinymemes/ host adapter, its module registry record, the [memes] config section and the memes component switch.
TinyMemes now lives in chottu-core as the first-party chottu-personality crate. OpenHuman shipped it off by default behind OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES, so no default runtime behaviour changes.
Old configs that still have [memes] or components.memes keep loading: the keys are reported as ignored and dropped on the next save. A new regression test covers this.
The tinyhumansai/tinymemes repository is left as it is.
Problem
OpenHuman compiled TinyMemes into every product build, carried its submodule, bus contract, release pins, storage collections and a web-chat reply hook, even though the feature was off unless OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES turned it on. The remix now belongs to Chottu, so OpenHuman should not know about it at all.
Solution
Submodule and manifests:git rm vendor/tinymemes; tinymemes-bus and the tinymemes feature removed from openhuman-core (and from its default), and from the forwarding lists in embed, tinyhumans, rpc, cli, tui and app. tinyinference-decisions was only a core dependency for TinyMemes' Jev callback, so it goes too. The root [patch] entry for it stays, since tinycomputer-engine still takes it by git; its comment now says so. The app world no longer resolves it, so its app-manifest patch entry is removed (otherwise it would be a [[patch.unused]]). Both lockfiles only lose the removed packages.
Core: removed the tinymemes module, records_memes.rs (registry is now thirteen records), the module-runtime callback install, the tinymemes-bus storage-schema owner, the features report entry, and the web-chat hook that remixed the final reply. ChatRequestMetadata::hold_text_stream existed only so TinyMemes treatment threads did not stream the original reply; nothing else set it, so the field, its bridge branch and its test are gone.
Config:MemesConfig/[memes], components.memes, ComponentSet::memes, doctor ComponentId::Memes and its config-semantics reference, and the one-shot OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES → components.memes migration are removed (migrate_components_with folded back into migrate_components). Config and ComponentsConfig do not deny unknown fields, so the old keys go through the existing unknown-key path.
About app: the conversation.reply_remix capability, its privacy record and its component mapping are removed.
Docs and CI inventories: components guide (new "Removed components" note), coverage matrix row 4.2.13 marked retired, module boundary inventory, storage schema doc, embed capability docs / llms-full.txt, product feature list, module-boundaries contract list, module pin inventory, process-statics and storage-bypass inventories (entries for deleted files), and the storage-schema checker's legacy-collection allowance (only TinyMemes used it). The 2026-10-11 dep-audit record gets a "superseded" note and permalinks for links into the deleted code. docs/audits/cloud-storage-7419/owner-prerequisites.md is a dated audit record and is left untouched.
Submission Checklist
Tests added or updated: retired_memes_settings_load_as_ignored_keys_and_are_dropped_on_save (config load path); component-migration tests updated for the dropped flag; registry count tests (Rust and scripts/__tests__/module-build.test.mjs) now expect thirteen records. Tests of removed code are removed with it.
Diff coverage ≥ 80%: N/A for most of the diff (deletions); the only added Rust lines are the regression test.
Coverage matrix updated: 4.2.13 marked retired.
Affected feature IDs listed under Related.
No new external network dependencies.
Manual smoke checklist: N/A, TinyMemes was off by default and not in the manual smoke list.

Impact
Public API / behaviour changes:
Cargo feature tinymemes no longer exists on openhuman, openhuman-embed, openhuman-tinyhumans, openhuman-rpc, openhuman-cli, openhuman-tui and openhuman-app. A downstream --features tinymemes now fails to resolve.
openhuman::tinymemes, config::schema::MemesConfig, Config::memes, ComponentsConfig::memes, ComponentSet::memes, COMPONENT_NAMES entry "memes" (now 16 names), doctor ComponentId::Memes and ChatRequestMetadata::hold_text_stream are removed.
[memes] and components.memes in config.toml are ignored (logged once as unknown keys) and dropped on the next save. OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES, OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES_DEFAULT, OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES_TIMEOUT_MS, OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES_MEME_COOLDOWN and OPENHUMAN_COMPONENT_MEMES are no longer read.
The tinymemes module is no longer in the registry, so it is never downloaded or loaded; about_app no longer lists conversation.reply_remix.
Runtime: no change for default builds; the remix was off unless OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES enabled it.
Storage: the tinymemes-bus collections (memes.*, remix_markers, tinymemes_documents) are no longer declared. Existing data is left where it is, not deleted.
cargo fmt --all -- --check: clean for every file this PR touches. The only diffs are pre-existing drift in three untouched files (agent/tinyagents/middleware_tests.rs, inference/provider/factory_local_only_endpoint_tests.rs, openhuman-tinyhumans/src/inference/managed_model_tests.rs).
cargo check and cargo clippy -- -D warnings with --manifest-path crates/openhuman-app/Cargo.toml: ok
cargo check -p openhuman-cli --all-targets --features "$(scripts/ci/product-features.sh)": ok
Focused tests, cargo test -p openhuman --lib --features "$(scripts/ci/product-features.sh --core)" filtered to config::schema modules::registry modules::boot platform::about_app web_chat::progress_bridge doctor:: storage::schema tools::ops_tests core::runtime::components: 945 passed. A few tracing-capture tests (doctor::inference_*catalog*, config::schema::ephemeral_route::...logged_once) fail only in some parallel runs and pass when run alone; they do not touch this change. core::runtime::services::tests::flows_boot_reconcile_uses_the_runtime_captured_config fails locally without staged modules; it is not related to TinyMemes.
node --test scripts/__tests__/*.test.mjs: everything this PR touches passes. browser-test-skips, prompt-breakdown, mock-api-server and the chat failure i18n key test fail the same way on main locally.
Full pnpm test:rust (mock backend and staged release modules): not run locally; left to CI.
Validation Blocked
pnpm rust:layout: check-openhuman-rust-layout.mjs fails on two files this PR does not touch, both already over the 750-line limit on main (agent/subagent_host/ops_tests_model_resolution_tests.rs 761, security/credentials/ops_credential_tests.rs 885).
Behavior Changes
Intended behavior change: TinyMemes is gone from OpenHuman; old TinyMemes config keys are ignored.
User-visible effect: none for default builds.
Parity Contract
Legacy behavior preserved: configs with [memes] / components.memes still load (regression test); every other component switch and legacy migration is unchanged.
Guard/fallback/dispatch parity checks: the web-chat bridge now always streams text_delta, which was already the behaviour for every thread outside a TinyMemes treatment arm.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Changes
Removed TinyMemes and reply-remixing functionality from OpenHuman, including its configuration options and related integrations.
Legacy meme-related settings are ignored when loading configuration and dropped when it is saved.
Chat responses now stream text deltas without the previous hold-stream behavior.
Documentation
Updated product and developer documentation to reflect these changes.
The tinymemes feature, its vendored submodule, and the tinymemes-bus and
tinyinference-decisions dependencies are gone, along with the config schema,
registry records, storage schema entries, and docs that referenced them. The
feature was retired, so the build flags, CI inventories, and module boundary
lists no longer carry it.

Adds a lazily loaded tinymemes module that remixes final replies with slang and memes, along with a `[memes]` config section for timeout and cooldown tuning. The host serves the module's inference, Jev, search, index storage, and delivery callbacks, and an environment flag controls which threads are in the treatment arm.
Auto-committed-on: cuttlefish
Co-authored-by: Medulla <medulla@tinyhumans.ai>
Delete the tinymemes integration along with its config schema, registry
record, and all supporting code and tests. The module is no longer
shipped, so the host no longer needs to serve its callbacks or carry its
tuning settings.

Completeness: Incomplete Test assessment: Test coverage is assessed from changed tests and lane evidence; execution is not claimed without trusted check data.
What changed
Registry counts settle at thirteen records and COMPONENT_NAMES at sixteen. Docs and CI inventories are updated consistently, and the storage-schema checker's legacy-collection allowance is removed. One new regression test pins that a legacy [memes]/components.memes config loads as ignored keys and is dropped on save.
Features
Removed — [memes] config section and memes component switch: Config::memes, MemesConfig, components.memes, ComponentSet::memes, the COMPONENT_NAMES "memes" entry (17 to 16 names), doctor ComponentId::Memes and the OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES-to-components.memes migration are removed; existing [memes] and components.memes keys must continue to load as ignored unknowns rather than failing or falling back to defaults. (crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/components.rspub struct ComponentsConfig {, crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/mod.rspub use identity_cost::{, crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/types/config.rspub struct Config {, crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/load/migrate.rspub(crate) fn migrate_components_with(config: &mut Config, raw: &str, tinymemes:, crates/openhuman-core/src/core/runtime/components.rspub const COMPONENT_DISABLED: &str = "COMPONENT_DISABLED";, crates/openhuman-core/src/doctor/contract.rsimpl ComponentId {)
Added — Regression test for retired memes config keys: Pins that a config with [components] memes = false and a [memes] section still loads (known keys apply, unnamed components keep defaults, no fallback to defaults), reports both keys as ignored, and drops them on save while keeping components.search. (crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/load/parse_tests.rscustom_dictionary = ["OpenHuman"])
Tests
unit — Component migration behaves the same for the remaining legacy switches (hosting, mcp_client, memory engine, tokenjuice, composio, sandbox, dictation/voice) after the memes flag and the with-variant are removed.: Mechanical update preserving existing migration and idempotency assertions; the tests lane answered with no findings. unit — JS checks updated: module-build expects thirteen SourceSpecs and the storage-schema test no longer accepts the legacy remix collections.: Aligned with the Rust-side count and the removed allowance; no execution evidence is recorded here. tests
Conclusion: Success
Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
Positive: The tests lane answered with no findings and judged the deletion consistent across Cargo features, component list, doctor contract, capability catalog, storage owners, CI scripts and docs, with coherent counts of 13 records and 16 components; it explicitly could not vouch that the branch compiles because the vendored submodule checkout was not visible to it.
Positive: The new regression test is the substantive added assertion surface for the retirement, covering load, diagnostics and save-drop in one flow.
Lane summary: This removes TinyMemes end to end (feature flags, domain module, registry record, config section, capability entry, streaming hold) and adds a test pinning that a legacy `[memes]`/`components.memes` config loads as ignored keys and is dropped on save. The deletion is consistent across Cargo features, component list, doctor contract, capability catalog, storage owners, CI scripts and docs, and the remaining surfaces keep coherent counts (13 records, 16 components). I found no regression that a reachable input would trigger; the one thing I cannot vouch for is that the branch compiles, since the vendored submodule checkout was not visible to me. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `737705db859a`), so retrieved context may be out of date._

description
Conclusion: Success
Scope reviewed: all assigned evidence
Positive: The description matches the diff for submodule, feature flags, host adapter, registry record, config schema, doctor component, about-app capability, bridge hook and docs/inventories; the description lane noted one inconsistency, that the body says the root [patch] entry for tinyinference-decisions stays but the diff also deletes the same patch entry from crates/openhuman-app/Cargo.toml, which the body does not mention (presumably correct, since that patch existed only for the removed app-world feature).
Lane summary: The description matches the diff: submodule, feature flags, host adapter, registry record, config schema, doctor component, about-app capability, bridge hook and docs/inventories are all removed exactly as stated, and the added regression test does what the body claims. One inconsistency: the body says the root `[patch]` entry for `tinyinference-decisions` "stays, since `tinycomputer-engine` still takes it by git", but the diff also deletes that same patch entry from `crates/openhuman-app/Cargo.toml`, which the body never mentions. That patch existed only because the app world compiled the removed `tinymemes` feature, so the deletion is presumably correct — the description just leaves it out. No code defect found. _The code index is behind this pull request (indexed at `737705db859a`), so retrieved context may be out of date._
OpenHuman removes TinyMemes features, configuration, remix processing, and module integrations. Legacy memes configuration keys are treated as unknown and dropped when saved. Registry, storage, capability, and documentation inventories are updated to omit TinyMemes.
Removes TinyMemes feature declarations and forwarding, related optional dependencies, and the vendor submodule and pin. Feature reporting no longer lists TinyMemes.
Configuration and migration crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/*, crates/openhuman-core/src/config/schema/load/*, crates/openhuman-core/src/core/runtime/components.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/doctor/*, docs/gitbooks/en/developing/components.md
Removes the memes component and [memes] configuration. Migration no longer reads OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMES. A regression test verifies retired settings are ignored and dropped on save.
Chat remix and capability metadata crates/openhuman-core/src/web_chat/*, crates/openhuman-core/src/platform/about_app/*, docs/TEST-COVERAGE-MATRIX.md
Removes post-speech remix processing and hold_text_stream metadata. Text deltas are published without the former guard. Removes the conversation.reply_remix catalog entry and its privacy descriptor.
Remix selection and inference crates/openhuman-core/src/tinymemes/arm*, history*, inference*, jev*, mod*
Deletes the experiment-arm logic, remix host adapter, history and reply helpers, inference and JEv helpers, and their tests.
Callbacks, storage, and service crates/openhuman-core/src/tinymemes/callbacks*, docs*, search*, service*, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/runtime.rs, crates/openhuman-core/src/storage/schema.rs
Deletes callback handling, document persistence, search adaptation, and service orchestration. Removes runtime service installation and TinyMemes storage declarations.
Registry and inventories crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/registry*, crates/openhuman-core/src/modules/registry/README.md, scripts/ci/*, docs/*, scripts/__tests__/*
Removes the TinyMemes module record and updates registry tests, storage-schema checks, boundary and process inventories, and related documentation.
tinyhumansai/openhuman#8327: Both changes update the loadable-module registry; this PR removes the TinyMemes record and vendor references.
tinyhumansai/openhuman#8062: Both changes remove capability entries from the about-app catalog; this PR removes conversation.reply_remix and its privacy metadata.

OPENHUMAN_TINYMEMESturned it on. The remix now belongs to Chottu, so OpenHuman should not know about it at all.Solution
