feat(voice): carry channel runtime and codec support - #52
Conversation
Update the vendored tinyagents submodule to the latest commit. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a codec module that decodes WAV, Ogg Opus, and M4A AAC audio and exposes probe, transcode, and waveform operations over the bus. The contract version is bumped to 1.11 to cover the three new methods. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The mp4 muxer wrote an empty SLConfig descriptor, which violates ISO/IEC 14496-1, so the esds descriptor is patched with the required predefined value byte and all enclosing atom lengths are adjusted. A gapless edit list and corrected track/movie durations are added, and decoded M4A samples are truncated to the container duration so AAC frame padding is not played back. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The codec module now validates emitted Opus packets with a separately implemented decoder in tests, and the M4A repair path uses checked arithmetic throughout so malformed muxer output cannot panic. The voice bus rejects codecs it cannot represent instead of silently mapping them. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adds in-memory probe, transcode, and waveform-peak extraction for WAV/PCM16, Ogg/Opus, and M4A/AAC-LC voice notes using pure-Rust codecs, so hosts can handle codec work without FFmpeg or system libraries. WAV decoding now rejects non-PCM16 variants instead of misreading them, and the module contract is bumped to 1.11 with three new methods. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add MP3 as a supported source codec so TTS output can be probed and transcoded into voice-note formats. CodecTranscode now takes a declared `from` codec that is checked against the payload, and the codec module was split into a directory with its tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the short pop fixture with a generated voice-envelope clip and a single-packet opus interop tone so the codec tests exercise multiframe encoding, gapless duration, and envelope retention. Add round-trip and truncation coverage for the AAC path and assert that decoded audio keeps the original signal envelope. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the manual sample conversion and window averaging with f64::from and a fold, and let the malformed-audio test return Result so fixture encoding failures surface as errors instead of panics. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…r crates Regenerate the lockfile after adding tinystoragedrivers-core and the tinyinference-providers dependency, which pulls in the secrets storage stack and its crypto crates. Also bumps the tinyinference crates to 0.4.1. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add tests asserting that empty, silent, oversized, and unsupported-codec inputs are rejected across probe, waveform, and transcode, and that the ADTS splitter rejects bad or truncated frames. Also verify that an empty Ogg Opus stream yields no playable audio. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adjust the test fixture to match the current OpusHead layout, dropping the removed version field and renaming output_gain to output_gain_q8. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the short-input transcode assertions with direct checks that encoding an empty buffer fails for both Opus and AAC/M4A, so the rejection paths for those codecs are exercised without relying on a one-sample WAV. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add an example that exercises Opus encoding over a longer input to verify behaviour beyond the short clips covered by existing tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The example that transcoded the voice-envelope fixture to Ogg Opus and WAV baselines has been deleted, as it is no longer needed. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a test asserting that waveform bucket range computation stays correct for sample counts near u32::MAX, where the naive 32-bit multiply would overflow. The expected bounds are derived with u128 arithmetic so the test pins the wide-math behaviour. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The waveform bucket start and end offsets were computed in usize, which could overflow on 32-bit targets for large sample counts. The range calculation now goes through a shared helper that widens to u128 before converting back, and the existing tests were reformatted to match. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Codec probe, transcode, and waveform calls now run on blocking workers behind a shared semaphore so attacker-controlled payloads cannot build an unbounded queue. Excess calls fail fast with a capacity error instead of piling up. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add a test that holds the only codec worker slot to confirm run_codec_worker rejects when capacity is full, then releases it and checks the work runs on a different thread than the executor. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Extend the waveform bucket test to check the start and end indices for the last bucket of a realistic clip length, ensuring the range covers the final sample. The existing 32-bit limit check is kept alongside the new assertions. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The rejection test now builds wav bytes from the shared f32_mono_to_wav helper and patches the sample rate and channel fields directly, so the invalid headers are exercised without depending on hound's writer. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The test no longer checks that encoding a single sample to AAC fails, leaving it focused on the dedicated Ogg codec rejection. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Extend the existing symphonia rejection test to also cover the M4aAac codec, confirming it is rejected the same way as OggOpus. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Record the current live module coverage snapshot so the untracked report is captured in version control. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add live-module-coverage.json to .gitignore and remove the committed coverage report, which is a generated artifact that should not be tracked. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
…s/tinyvoice/tests/codecs.rs Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The verify_module example now probes and transcodes a WAV fixture to AMR-NB through the loaded module, checking the storage header, metadata and waveform output. The duration assertion in the module tests was relaxed to a 20 ms tolerance to match the codec's frame granularity. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The AmrNb variant's doc comment now renders DingTalk as inline code so the identifier stands out consistently with the rest of the documentation. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The AMR-NB verification example and module contract test now assert the exact 2,371 ms source and 2,380 ms encoded durations instead of allowing a 20 ms tolerance. The spec was updated to document that AMR-NB duration rounds up to the next 20 ms frame. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Renamed the local codec and frame bindings in the AMR-NB encode and decode paths so they no longer shadow the module's codec type and read more distinctly. No behaviour change. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The pinned 3GPP reference comparison now asserts equality on the raw bit patterns of the decoded and expected floats instead of using a direct float comparison. This avoids flakiness from floating-point equality semantics while still requiring an exact match. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Updates the lockfile for the tinyvoice, tinyvoice-bus, and tinyvoice-module version bumps and pulls in rvoip-codec-core along with its tracing-subscriber dependency tree. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The voice-envelope fixture now reports a duration of 2,370 ms rather than 2,371 ms, so the codec verification example and module contract test were updated to match. The fixtures README was corrected to document the same duration. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace Duration::from_secs(60) with the equivalent Duration::from_mins(1) across the capture, hotkey, live, and relay runtime services. The values are unchanged; the intent of the one-minute reservation TTL is simply clearer. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace Duration::from_secs(60) with Duration::from_mins(1) in the live transport and relay runtime table tests. The helper reads more clearly and expresses the intended one-minute interval directly. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the Duration::from_secs(60) call in the live admission test with Duration::from_mins(1) so the intent of the timeout advance is clearer. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Update the module documentation and capture spec to reference contract 1.12 instead of 1.11, keeping the stated contract version in sync with the current release. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace the expect and unwrap calls in the AMR-NB codec tag round-trip test with the question mark operator and have the test return a Result, so failures surface as returned errors instead of panics. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Replace chunks_exact with as_chunks in the AMR-NB codec tests so the slice-to-sample conversion is checked at compile time and any trailing bytes are asserted empty rather than silently dropped. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
The AMR-NB storage decode and encode tests compared the remainder from as_chunks against an untyped empty array, which fails to infer the element type. The comparisons now cast the empty literal to a byte slice so the assertions type-check. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
… frames Adds a test that decodes an AMR-NB storage stream containing a frame flagged as bad quality and a no-data frame. It verifies the codec, rate, channel count, decoded sample count, and reported duration so these edge cases stay handled. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Add an AMR-NB encoded sample with discontinuous transmission enabled alongside its decoded PCM reference, so the DTX handling path can be exercised in tests. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly
Adds a conformance test that decodes the pinned mode-0 AMR-NB discontinuous-transmission stream and compares the output against the reference PCM, verifying that speech, SID comfort-noise, and NO_DATA frames are all handled. The fixture README documents the new files and their upstream provenance. Auto-committed-on: dragonfly

Add --locked to the minimum-Rust cargo commands.
Both commands can resolve dependencies that differ from Cargo.lock. The job exists to verify the declared 1.91 MSRV. An unlocked resolution can pick a newer transitive crate with a higher MSRV, or crates that differ from the ones the author tested. That makes the job non-reproducible. The PR description says the author validated with --locked, so CI should use the same flag.

Add AMR-NB to the codec module README.
The README lists WAV/PCM16, Ogg/Opus, M4A/AAC-LC, and MP3 as the only detected inputs. mod.rs also detects AMR-NB storage input (#!AMR\n) when the amr-nb feature is enabled. Correct the minimum Rust version statement.
This text says the optional amr-nb feature raises the minimum Rust version to 1.91. crates/tinyvoice/Cargo.toml Line 5 sets rust-version = "1.91" for the whole package, so every build of the library requires 1.91, with or without the feature. The root README.md Lines 23-24 repeat the feature-only wording. A reader can conclude that a default build supports an older toolchain, but Cargo rejects older toolchains for every build.
Choose one option:

- Keep a lower package
rust-versionand require 1.91 only whenamr-nbis enabled.

Honor M4A edit-list start offsets
For externally produced AAC/M4A files whose elst uses a positive media_time to remove encoder priming, m4a_playable_samples reduces the edit list to a duration and this truncation keeps samples from index zero. The priming samples therefore remain while an equivalent amount of real audio is removed from the tail, shifting waveforms and transcoded output. Apply the edit list's media start offset (and account for empty edits) before limiting the result to its playable duration.
