What

Replace exact ubuntu-latest GitHub-hosted Linux runner labels with namespace-profile-vig in every active .github/workflows/*.yml file.

Why

Move Linux CI onto Namespace runners (namespace-profile-vig).

How was this tested?

Runner-label swap only; no application code. Workflow YAML still parses. Jobs will queue until the Namespace GitHub app is installed on DevVig and the vig profile exists in Namespace.

Files / jobs changed

  • .github/workflows/ci.yml: rust matrix Linux entry (os: [namespace-profile-vig, macos-latest]); ui; adapters
  • .github/workflows/pr-title.yml: conventional title
  • .github/workflows/release.yml: Linux build matrix entry (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu); assemble release assets; publish prerelease assets; prepare Homebrew formula; open Homebrew formula PR
  • .github/workflows/coderabbit-fallback-review.yml: Decide Codex fallback
  • .github/workflows/finalize-release.yml: resolve; promote verified release

Left unchanged: macos-latest, macos-15, macos-15-intel, and all other labels.

Checklist

  • No application code; CI runner labels only
  • Protocol changes update both mb-protocol and docs/protocol.md
  • Adapter PRs: the adapter checklist is satisfied
  • Nothing added to the daemon's idle footprint (CPU, RSS, network)

Note

Jobs will queue until the Namespace app is installed on DevVig and the vig profile exists in Namespace.

The rust job is named rust (${{ matrix.os }}), so the required-check context rust (ubuntu-latest) will become rust (namespace-profile-vig) after merge. The Protect main ruleset (and CONTRIBUTING.md / docs/governance.md) still names rust (ubuntu-latest). This PR does not update those, per runner-only scope.

Walkthrough

Several CI, review, and release workflow jobs now run on namespace-profile-vig instead of ubuntu-latest. The macOS CI matrix entry and the Linux release target remain unchanged.

Changes: Workflow runner updates

Layer / File(s) Summary

The fallback review and PR title lint jobs now use namespace-profile-vig.
Release workflow runners
.github/workflows/finalize-release.yml, .github/workflows/release.yml
The resolve, promote, Linux build, asset assembly, publish, and formula jobs now use namespace-profile-vig. The Linux release target remains unchanged.

The Linux Rust check will be reported under a new name, but the branch ruleset and docs still expect the old one. Merges to main can stay blocked until the required check is updated or the check name is preserved. Jobs will also queue until the Namespace app and vig profile are set up.

🟡 Changes recommended

A critical unresolved issue remains: the runner-label swap renames the rust (ubuntu-latest) status context required by the Protect-main ruleset, which would block future PR merges until the ruleset and docs are updated.

What changed in this PR

This PR migrates all Linux CI jobs across the repository's GitHub Actions workflows from the GitHub-hosted ubuntu-latest runner label to the Namespace-hosted namespace-profile-vig label. It is purely an infrastructure/runner-label swap with no application code changes; the swap is applied consistently and no stray ubuntu-latest references remain. The main cross-cutting consequence is that the rust job's status-context name is derived from matrix.os, so the required check rust (ubuntu-latest) will be renamed to rust (namespace-profile-vig), which affects the strict Protect-main ruleset until the ruleset and docs are updated.

Changes:

  • Replace ubuntu-latest with namespace-profile-vig for Linux jobs in ci.yml, release.yml, finalize-release.yml, coderabbit-fallback-review.yml, and pr-title.yml.
  • The rust matrix Linux entry and the release build Linux matrix entry (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu) now target the Namespace runner; macOS labels are left unchanged.
  • No application/runtime code is modified; this is runner infrastructure only.
File Description
.github/workflows/ci.yml Swaps Linux runner for rust matrix, ui, and adapters jobs; renames the rust status context via matrix.os.
.github/workflows/release.yml Moves Linux build matrix entry and the assemble/publish/Homebrew jobs onto the Namespace runner.
.github/workflows/finalize-release.yml Moves resolve and promote jobs onto the Namespace runner.
.github/workflows/coderabbit-fallback-review.yml Moves the Decide Codex fallback job onto the Namespace runner.
.github/workflows/pr-title.yml Moves the conventional title lint job onto the Namespace runner.

Note: One operational issue is flagged inline — the rust job's required status context changes with the matrix label and will no longer satisfy the strict branch-protection ruleset (CONTRIBUTING.md:60, docs/governance.md:14) until those are reconciled.

Preserve the required Rust check context.

name: rust (${{ matrix.os }}) changes the status context to rust (namespace-profile-vig). The reviewed repository still requires rust (ubuntu-latest). Because this PR does not update the ruleset, the Linux check can remain unmatched and block merges. Keep the display value as ubuntu-latest while routing the job to namespace-profile-vig, or update the ruleset and repository documentation in the same change. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
